Erick is trained lawyer and social entrepreneur, and founder of MAKLWETA. Erick was born in rural Homa Bay County where he spent all his childhood and early schooling. He moved to Catholic-run Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho, for his secondary education under a scholarship supplemented by his dad who is a retired primary school teacher. This was critical for him to join university. As a distinction student, Erick joined Moi University to study Bachelor of Laws on government scholarship. In 2009, he won Commonwealth Scholarship for Master of Laws at Kent Law School (UK). Erick completed his PhD in Laws at HKU where he was a Swire Scholar.
Besides community engagement under MAKLWETA, Erick runs his private legal consultancy in Nairobi, Kenya, majoring on trade and environmental law.
Amy is an American who has been living in Greater China since 2004, working as a fundraising professional in arts management and real estate as well as in marketing & sponsorships at AXA in Hong Kong. Amy has a long history of volunteerism, winning the Volunteer of the Year Award presented by actress Susan Sarandon for her work with after school arts education with the Lower East Side Girls Club of NYC in 2003.
She was also instrumental in bringing Chi Fan for Charity to Hong Kong in its first year to benefit the Child Welfare Scheme of Nepal. She is on the Volunteer Fundraising Committee for Premiere Performances of Hong Kong, a classical music concert promoter which also administers music education outreach programs in schools across Hong Kong. Amy has a BA from Wellesley College, the top Women's College in America, and believes passionately in the cause of girls’ education as an agent for positive change in the world.

Jessica is a human rights researcher with diverse experience in non-profit making organisations in Hong Kong. She previously worked at the French Consulate in Hong Kong before moving fully into human rights works. Jessica is a graduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in Linguistics. She is passionate about languages and cross-cultural communication. In addition to her role in the Board, Jessica has undertaken humanitarian missions to East Africa (Kenya and Uganda).
Mr. Karl Chan (Hong Kong)
Mr. Karl Chan
Karl is a management consultant at Monitor Deloitte in Hong Kong. In this role, he provides strategic and operational advice to business leaders across diverse industries in the Asia Pacific region. Karl has also undertaken humanitarian missions to Kenya and continues to commit his time to non-profit and philanthropic ventures especially in the area of education and capacity development. Karl holds a degree in Business and Finance from the University of Hong Kong.
Lea Raible (Switzerland)
Lea was born and raised in Switzerland. She holds a Bachelor of Law and a Master of Law both from the University of Zürich, Switzerland. In addition, Lea holds an LL.M. in Human Rights from HKU. She is currently pursuing a doctorate at University College London (UCL) where she also teaches law and philosophy. Prior to moving to UCL in 2013, Lea was a Research and Teaching Associate in International and Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zürich. She has also held visiting doctoral fellowship at the Department of Political Science at Yale University. As a student and a teacher, Lea is passionate about learning and education as indispensable tools for social justice.
Clinton Wong (Hong Kong)
Clinton has worked in Hong Kong, China, United States and Africa across banking, impact investing, management consulting, international development and social entrepreneurship. He is currently Engagement Manager at a social enterprise start-up that facilitates cross-border investments and partnerships to develop China's nascent elderly healthcare industry. Clinton is also Founder and Director of Underpin, a leading purpose-driven brand and strategy consulting firm based in Hong Kong. Clinton holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and International Business from University of Puget Sound, the State of Washington, USA. He was named Scholar of the Year and winner of The Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award in 2010.
Dr. A-Jull Lim (S.Korea/Germany)

A-Jull is a native of Korea but grew up in Germany where her family lives. She holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in International Relations and International Humanitarian Law & Human Rights Law from Germany and a PhD in Law and Philosophy. A-Jull firmly believes in the importance of individual engagement for societal transformation and both her academic and philanthropic works revolve around the conception of "knowledge and/as empowerment".
Serrainne Nyamori (Kenya)
Serrainne is a development practitioner who has worked extensively with the private sector, SME’s, Government and Civil society across the African Continent. She currently works as an Organizational Development Consultant in Nairobi, Kenya. Serrainne is very passionate about women empowerment, education, volunteerism and leadership. She is a 2015 UN-HABITAT Urban Youth Fund Mentor and a 2011 Moremi Initiative for Leadership Development in Africa (MILEAD) Fellow.
Gordon Tsui, Hong Kong
Chak Pong is the Board Secretary responsible for overall sponsorship administration and reporting to the Board. He holds a Master of Education from the University of Hong Kong. In the past five years, he has led over 6 educational and humanitarian missions to Homa Bay and across other East African countries. He continues to pursue postgraduate research degree in HKU focusing on education policy and internationalization.
Nancy Awuor (Field Assistant)
Nancy is our Field Assistant responsible for operations and logistics in Homa Bay. She coordinates all our activities in Homa Bay including recruitment sessions with local teachers and leaders in villages where we operate. Nancy also enforces compliance by coordinating collection and dissemination of periodic progress report from all girls that benefit from our program. She also hosts our mentorship sessions.
Nancy is a mother of two and is a professional teacher.
